What is Audio Trimmer / Cutter?

An audio trimmer keeps only the section of a sound file between a start and end point you choose. Preview the audio in the built-in player, set the two points with sliders or exact times, and the file is cut locally with FFmpeg. For common formats the audio is cut without re-encoding, so trimming is nearly instant and the quality is untouched.

Frequently asked questions

Does trimming reduce audio quality?+

No. For common formats like MP3, WAV, M4A, and OGG the selected section is copied without re-encoding, so it is bit-identical to the original. Unusual formats are converted to MP3 at high quality.

How precise are the cut points?+

WAV files cut sample-exact. Compressed formats like MP3 cut at frame boundaries, which are about 25 milliseconds apart - imperceptible for nearly all uses.

Is my audio uploaded while trimming?+

No. FFmpeg runs inside your browser through WebAssembly and the file never leaves your device.

Can I cut out the middle and keep both ends?+

The tool keeps one continuous selection. To remove a middle section, trim the two parts you want to keep separately and join them with the Audio Merger tool.

What formats can I trim?+

MP3, WAV, M4A/AAC, OGG, FLAC, and most other formats FFmpeg reads. The output keeps the same format when possible.
